The INAUGURAL blog post

Hey there everyone!

I’m so excited to use this first entry on my official design blog to introduce myself. You may or may not have read My Story page on this site, but here’s a brief recap. I am Shana Jacobs and have been an interior designer for many years. I primarily work with builders nationwide, designing and installing model homes.

Let me tell you- IT’S THE BEST OF ALL WORLDS! I get to design my dream house using all the color schemes that intrigue me, without having to switch my own home out all the time (even though I still do). But it is so nice to get a trendy design scheme out of my system. Want to see how beautiful blush and emerald would be without the commitment to living with it permanently? Perfect! I’ll just do that on a project. I can usually tell if I’m over a scheme before I even install it. After spending 8 weeks ordering for a model, I’m either still really into it or ready to not look at it anymore. Only the colors and designs I end up really loving long term make it back to my own home.

That brings me to the purpose of this blog. This site. This space for us. I want this to feel like a conversation where I give you design advice, tips, tricks of the trade, and shopping sources.

As I’ve mentioned on my homepage, I get stopped all the time by shoppers asking why my items are so well coordinated within my shopping cart. Am I moving? Am I redecorating? Once I explain what I do for a living, the person inevitably says how much they love model homes and how they always feel so pulled together. They elaborate on how they are always stumped trying to accomplish this fete. Well stay tuned, subscribe, check back often and follow me on Instagram because I have so much more to come that I’m thrilled to share with all of you.

Some other personal things I will definitely delve into as we go along are the fact that I am a mom & wife, and a rescue dog fanatic - #adoptdontshop! I also avidly listen to audiobooks and cannot commute to work or anywhere without having a book in my ear.
